PICKENS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – An Upstate business is helping neighbors in the mountains stay warm as frigid temps continue to impact our areas.

Market at the Mill, located at 225 Pumpkintown Highway in Pickens, is delivering propane tanks to western North Carolina neighborhoods. They’re also bringing empty tanks back to be refilled.

The business said they want to make sure people and businesses stay warm and safe amid Helene recovery.

“That’s what’s gonna keep those folks alive through the winter months,” said facility manager Barry Crawford. “We’re going to have to keep them warm in their campers, their sheds or even their tents. We’re gonna have to keep those folks warm or the death toll from this Helene is gonna go up over the winter months.”

Market at the Mill mentioned that baby diapers and pet food are also often requested from North Carolina residents.

Any donations can be dropped off at the Market at the Mill through Saturday, Jan. 25 from 8 a.m. util 4 p.m.
